미치밀러 악단. 그저 행진곡풍의 음악이 멋져서 따라 불러봤던 그 LP.
나에게는 우연히 손이 닿아서 특별한 연주자가 되었지만 그는 이미 엄청난 대가였지요.
많은 연주와 팝, 그리고 약간의 클래식을 듣던 어린시절 커버를 뚫어져라 보면서
밤새 들었던 그 곡들. 이제 반백의 나이에 와서야 그를 돌아봅니다.
원래 이름 Mitchell Miller로 연주 그룹들(오케스트라와 실내악등)을 거쳐온 실력가로
많은 부분에 클래식을 연주하고 미첼밀러로 음반 발매에 합세하고 경험이 풍부할때
그는 Mitch Miller 라는 이름으로 정식 자신만의 음악들을 선보이게 되죠.

1950년에 Mitch Miller and the Gang 이라는 이름을 갖습니다.
The Children's Marching Song, Tzena, Tzena, Tzena, The Yellow Rose of Texas('55 #1) 등의 곡들을
발표하면서 공전의 히트를 기록하게되지만, 1957 년 recording을 한 The River Kwai March and the Colonel Bogey March...
가 폭넓은 히트를 하게됩니다.  '콰이강의 다리'라는 곡은 행진곡 연주에서 빠지지 않는 레퍼토리가 됩니다.
또한 Sing Along with Mitch 가 수식어 처럼 따라 붙으며 모든 음악에서 즐거움을 맛보게 합니다.

미치밀러의 음악세계도 1950년대 음반사에 한 획을 만듭니다. 99세에 세상을 뜬 2010년까지 ...
